13:5) says "Never will I leave you; Can we really believe that? God promised it, but it isn't easy to trust in a blanket promise like that, not when life gets rough. And sometimes life can get very tough. In our daily living, there is rarely any visible or tangible sign that God is there with us.Yet, when we move along through life trusting promises, and then look back, we find that he has kept his word. He did have every situation in hand. That's enough to proceed, and equips us to say, "Lord, you handled things before. I'll trust you to handled things again." And, once more, he does. The peace of God, which he alone can give, cannot be artificially generated. We may feel peaceful, but it does not mean that everything will be going smoothly. Peace is not the absence of Struggle or pain- peace comes from knowing that God is present. When
the desciples were in their boat and a storm came up, they thought
Jesus was off in the With Jesus in your boat the anxieties caused by what is going on around will not get inside and swamp you. Rather the anxieties themselves can become ways to peace. The apostle Paul, reminding us of the energy consuming drain of our anxieties said, " Do not be anxious about anything" (Phil 4:6) When anxious times come and they will come let them be the reminder to pray, turning the anxiety over to God, dumping it on him. That is when he will give the peace, and it will be a neither peace that no human being can generate, nor Satan duplicate. You may
not get clear answers when you pray. You may not need to know answers,
but you will (John
14:3) Jesus says "And if I go and prepare a place for you, I
will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where
I am". This is the promise which Jesus gives only to the |
