Dear 'solo77das,'

God's will is spelled out perfectly in the Scriptures, the 66 books we call the Bible.  To know the will of God, you should be a child of God and you should ask for the help of the Holy Spirit.

Are you the same person as 'svarg?'  If not, are you related to him or do you know him?

Shalom Malekim!!!

Dear Brother in our Lord,

I am not a youth eligible to participate in the youth discussion forum. However I found your query not being responded to adequately in spite of the query being of much importance for a seeker. Therefore I try to put forward my views on the subject for the benefit of those that are seriously seeking to DO the Will of God on earth.

Your question is “How someone can understand the perfect will of God? What are methods or mode to know?”  I am not going to make a long literary composition on the subject. I will try to touch upon only the basic and practical aspects.

How to seek God's will:
Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek His will in all you do, and He will direct your paths. (Proverbs 3:5-6)

Brother George P Koshy has rightly said “God's will is spelled out perfectly in the Scriptures, the 66 books we call the Bible.  To know the will of God, you should be a child of God and you should ask for the help of the Holy Spirit.” I fully concur with that and proceed to address your query as follows:

1.         1.  BECOME A CHILD OF GOD

Love God and TRUST in His Promises. BELIEVE in the plan of Salvation that God has devised for the mankind. Remember- “ Believing" is not just superficial acknowledgement of a fact. Believing is “Be Living”.

2.     2. BELIEVE in Jesus Christ as your LORD and SAVIOUR.  Surrender your life to the Lordship of Jesus Totally and Unconditionally. Jesus is the incarnated Almighty God one with the Father.

3.     3Wages of Sin is Death. The final Destiny of all sinners is the Eternal Hell fire. Whilst Faith in Jesus Christ is the only solution for deliverance from the consequences of sin, it is equally important to confess your sins and detest sin. Resolutely determine to fight all temptation to sin resting on the power of the Holy Spirit.

4.     Once you have thus become a child of God, as children of God it is our PRIVILEGE (much more than duty) to do the Will of God on earth. Our life on earth has been made meaningful and Precious on account of our election which is absolutely the Sovereign act of God demonstrating His mercy on us. In return we aim to WORSHIP Him in Spirit and Truth. The aim of Romans 12:1-2 is that all of life would become “spiritual worship”. “I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”

5.     Now that your specific query has been addressed, you may proceed to know the Will of God from the Word of God. Some relevant portions are given hereunder.

(a) SALVATION

1Ti 2:3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; 4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

(b)          SPIRIT FILLING

Eph 5:18 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; 19 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; 20 Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ; 21 Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.

(c) SUBMISSION

1Pe 2:13 Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme; 14 Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well.15 For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men:

(d) SUFFERING

1Pe 3:17  For it is better, if the will of God be so, that ye suffer for well doing, than for evil doing.18  For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:

(e)  SATISFACTION

1Th 5:18 In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

(f)  SELF-SACRIFICE

Rom 12:1  I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

(g) SETTLEDNESS

Heb 10:35 Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward. 36 For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise. 37 For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry.38 Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him. 39 But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.

I'm just adding on few points to what Mr P.A Paulose has posted since this is my favorite topic and I know many people especially youth who are confused on this topic. Many Christians think that God’s will for him/her is like a treasure hunt.Popular questions like these are common doubts among Christians – Which job to choose? Who to marry? Where to settle ? Which shirt to wear  ?etc..etc.

Many in Christendom think that God’s will for them is like a Hide and Seek game and they always need to keep hunting for it through their circumstances and at times from the bible till the day they die. Hence the popular phrase in Christendom – “Finding God’s Will” as if it got lost somewhere.

We need to understand that God’s will for us is mentioned clearly in the Bible. It is not a secret that is hidden somewhere such that only the select few can find it. God wants us to understand His will to us  far more than we want to understand it. He always makes His will clear to those who seek it with an obedient heart. The question of God’s will for you and me  is clearly revealed in Scripture.

The Bible reveals that it is God’s will for all of us to be: -

1) SAVED :

1Tim 2:3-4: For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

2Pet 3:9: The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.

2) SPIRIT- FILLED :

Eph5:17-18: Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is.  And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit,

3) SANCTIFIED :

1The4:3-7: For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you should abstain from sexual immorality; that each of you should know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor, not in passion of lust, like the Gentiles who do not know God; that no one should take advantage of and defraud his brother in this matter, because the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also forewarned you and testified. For God did not call us to uncleanness, but in holiness.

4) SUBMISSIVE :

1Pet2:13-15: Therefore submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord’s sake, whether to the king as supreme, or to governors, as to those who are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers and for the praise of those who do good. For this is the will of God, that by doing good you may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men

5) SUFFERING :

Phi1:29 – 29: For to you it has been granted on behalf of Christ, not only to believe in Him, but also to suffer for His sake,

2Tim3:12: Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.

If all those things are true in your life, you may do whatever you want. That means that if you are conforming to God’s will in all the five ways listed above, He will place in your heart desires that reflect His will.

Psalm 37:4 says, “Delight yourself in the Lord; and He will give you the desires of your heart.”

Philipians 4:19 -And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.isted above, He will place in your heart desires that reflect His will.
