Incidentally, I don’t visit forums or Bible teachers/evangelist’s social media pages anymore. There are many reasons for it. But in this case, I happened to read a post in one leading Malayali bible teacher's group. Of course, I got out of the group as soon as I read some of his accounts.
There are many instances that we sin at a subconscious level. People who deem themselves bible teachers or ‘out’ for the Lord’s work need to be wary of this. This might sound absurd, but they are in requirement of more grace than the so-called nomenclature believer (Ref: James). This is because they handle the sword more actively.
So it is imperative what one communicates in word and practice indeed. To mention people touching/showing any form of respect and to receive them is not Christian like behaviour. I did a bit of calculation and compared it with the Acts of Apostles. I even looked at the ministries which I have personally heard of. If you do a mathematical forecast and if you read the testimonies, India should have had 62% of the population - brethren by now. But we all know that is not the case.
So you can see why most testimonies of evangelists who come to churches abroad and domestically are absurd. The sad part is, the sincere and God-fearing ones get ignored in all the meaningless clutter. I remember one evangelist coming here (Australia) and spoke of India being the cruellest country for the evangelist and the work of the Lord is hard. Ironically, he was wearing a RayBan and Louis Vuitton shirt while sharing his testimony. I find these things a bit hard to digest.
India has the one of the largest missionary work happening in the world. True, there are problems - but is it much worse than the Middle East, China or other places? You cannot be dishonest with the work of the Lord, especially in today's information age.
When people fell on the apostles' feet, they were flabbergasted (Ref Acts). We see them stopping people from doing so. The testimony they carried with them was of His grace and humility. Being followers of Christ, what are the examples we set? Do we see merit in only preaching scripture but not in practice? These are some of the questions I would leave out there.
This is not to defame, insult or put anyone down. The Lord has given a right to each believer to call out when it is required. Think about it.
